The Super Soccer League (SSL) was the brain child of Shawn Grace.
He had played in a few other leagues that used ESMS and after being made aware that there were lots of budding managers waiting to be able to manage their own team, he got to work on the new SSL.
After about two weeks learning all about how the game was run and getting all the new managers in place, he set to work on what was to be his first web site.
Once he was happy with the web site, it was time to launch the SSL,the first weeks games were played on March 29th 2000.
At the end of season three it had become apparent that some teams were getting to big for the SSL. New managers that would come into the SSL would not stay long because of this problem.
So Shawn had to do something about this before it was to late.
After a lot of resetting and things not going to plan Shawn came to the conclusion that he did not want to run the SSL anymore.
Just as the SSL seemed to have died in stepped its savior.
Gary Brown had been a manager in the SSL from the start,he felt that it would not be right for the SSL to die.
He revamped the league structure from three divisions of 12 teams down to two divisions of 12 teams,he also got rid of some of the old managers that did not send in their team sheets.
SSL2001 started on the 6th October 2001.
